On a Los Angeles morning walk (8 June 1976), Srila Prabhupada asked, almost incredulously, why people don’t manufacture eggs, instead of taking them away from the hens – often sterilizing them, and then eating them. Actually there IS such a thing as ‘egg-replacer.’ Moreover, people have learned to make artificial sapphires and rubies and a food that tastes and looks identical to meat but is not meat; and we have milk that looks and tastes like milk but is fully non-dairy.
