Even Demons Can Get A Taste Devotional Service

Srila Prabhupada has said that his movement has created a taste for devotional service, even in DEMONS. “But our propaganda is, by some way or other, even they are sudras, even they’re demons, we are creating the taste.” (Lecture on Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.16 in SF on 19 Aug, 1972). A scriptural proof of this is that Arjuna engaged the demon Maya Danava in constructing a beautiful assembly house in Dwarka and the gift of a great club to Bhima: “This demon [Maya Danava], feeling obliged to Arjuna, wanted to do him some service to show his gratefulness, but Arjuna declined to accept anything from him in exchange. Lord Sri Krsna, however, being pleased with Maya for his taking shelter of a devotee, asked him to render service unto King Yudhisthira by building a wonderful assembly house. The process is that by the grace of the devotee the mercy of the Lord is obtained, and by the mercy of the Lord a chance to serve the Lord’s devotee is obtained. The club of Bhimasena was also a gift of Maya Danava” (Srimad Bhagavatam 1.15.8 – excerpt from purport)
