‘More Humble Than’

Part of Srila Prabhupada’s translation of the third stanza of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s Siksastakam speaks of being “lower than the straw in the street.” A straw is lower than a blade of grass, because a blade of grass, even after being trampled upon, tends to stand back up as if to assert itself. But the DEAD BODY that belonged to that blade of grass, is lifeless, unmoving and sure not to resurrect itself.
