In her book, “Business as Unusual,” Anita Roddick, owner of the global chain, “The Body Shop,” says that the beauty business amounts to over one billion dollars per year. A large portion of that is hair conditioners, shampoos and “permanents” that promote hairstyle, hair shape, hair “body” and “that silky look.” Hair styling is for both women AND men. The following was predicted in the 12th canto of chapter two of Srimad Bhagavatam: “A sacred place will be taken to consist of no more than a reservoir of water located at a distance, and beauty will be thought to depend on one’s hairstyle” (lavanyam=beauty and kesa=hair, text 6)
