There are Many Concepts of Hell

In October of 1969 a London newspaper headline read, “Swami Calls London Hell.” Srila Prabhupada had been televised live on BBC’s “Late Night Line-up,” and when asked if there was a concept of hell in the Krsna religion, he responded, “London is hell. It’s always cloudy, cold and rainy. This is hell.” Here are some other references to hell with those in quotes being from Srila Prabhupada’s mouth: “Factory is another name for Hell” Varna sankara makes the world hell. Naraka means Hell because material existence is a hellish condition. ” ‘Put’ means hell and son, ‘tra’ is who can deliver, because if father is sinful, son can deliver from hell.” Prabhodananda Sarasvati says that kaivalya is no better than the hellish condition of life. Citraketu says heaven and hell are the same for a devotee. SB 3.21.32/Purport: “For a Krsna consciousness person living in hell or heaven are equal.” “There is absolute certainty of converting this hell of pandemonium for the transcendental abode of the Lord.” Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.5.36/Purport
