Try as hard as they might, lefties (and righties) can’t beat the system. Gary North and a handful of y2k ‘survivors’ gave seminars, stocked up on soya products, and lived rurally in newly purchased off-the-grid homes. But they were still dependent on ‘the system’ to get their messages across, on big corporations for their survival foods, and on major-player real estate firms to buy their rural dwellings. Alcohol, Hollywood films, TV, phone cards, cell phones, wind power, solar panels, and the Internet, give us the illusion that we’re ‘beating the system,’ but we’re not. We’re saving some money at best. And those who make a lot of fast (black) money by trafficking or dealing drugs live an extremely risky existence. Beating the system? Hardly! Only by fully understanding the principle of yukta vairagya and living accordingly, can one truly ‘beat the system.’
