Passive resistance does not (always) pay. Recently the “Advertising Standards Complaints Board” in New Zealand upheld complaints against the powerful Beef and Lamb Marketing Bureau. A TV ad depicted a group of butchers singing and dancing in a central Sydney Street just like Hare Krishna devotees do on Harinam parties. The Complaints Board overruled the ad, as well as an appeal from the Beef and Lamb marketeers. This was the result of a long, loud and protracted series of complaints from meat-eating New Zealanders, Hare Krishna En Zedders, and at least one legal firm. Even some beef farmers complained.
