The Srimad Bhagavatam refers to a phenomenon known as maya sukhaya or “illusory happiness.” Srila Prabhupada gave the example of having to travel to a doctor while he was in Los Angeles. The office of the medical man was “fify miles off.” The moral is that autos and roads haven’t even solved the problem of ill health. On the contrary, every day 3k or so are are killed and 30,000 seriously injured in motor vehicle-related accidents around the world.
