Once I spoke with O.B.L. Kapoor, who as Prabhupada’s senior knew him as “Abhay.” He told us that before Srila Prabhupada left he informed OBL that he would employ a “secret” method that would enable him to be successful in the West. “And what is that secret?” asked Mr. Kapoor. “I’ll tell you later,” said Srila Prabupada. That “later” came when Srila Prabhupada returned from America, years after this conversation with OBL. At first, OBL didn’t recognize him. Srila Prabhupada was in the Radha Damodara temple when Kapoor said, “Abhay Babu? Is that you?” Srila Prabhupada grinned at his old friend and nodded. “So now you can tell me your secret of success.” To which Srila Prabhupada replied, “Yes, my secret is trinad api sunicena. That verse is my secret.”
