In the Tenth Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam there is a verse which enables us to better understand how the conditioned spirit soul is covered. A comparison is made to what happens in nature. Here is the verse spoken by Sukadeva Goswami in SB 10.20.4: “The sky was then covered by dense blue clouds accompanied by lightning and thunder. Thus the sky and its natural illumination were covered in the same way that the spirit soul is covered by the three modes of material nature.”
