In this day and age its generally been shown that this oft cited aphorism is off the mark. People mostly tend to forget. What is out of sight is out of mind. But in spiritual life, longing for Krisha is spiritual, and sometimes He is realizable only through vani rather than vapu, the latter being considered less important. In support of this, Krisha vanished from the rasa dance just to intensify the gopis’ spiritual attachment to Him. He says (Srimad Bhagavatam) “They…become like a poor man who has gained some wealth and the lost it, and who thus becomes so anxious about it that he can think of else.”
