Death Affirms Life

In a lecture, Srila Prabhupada explained that although the most wondrous thing in the world is our conviction that we won’t die (Yudhisthira’s answer to Yamaraja), there is another “side” to this, which is that we seek, and are aware of our own natural immortality, because the soul is immortal. In other words, not being able to conceive of death is a symptom of our immortality. (May 28, 1972, lecture in Los Angeles) I don’t know who Susan Ertz is, but I couldn’t resist the following words attributed to her, which I found on a website: “Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.”
