Srila Prabhupada quoted a verse several times in his lectures (ma jiva ma mara — the attribution of which I cannot find out) in which a saintly person gives his blessings to a butcher. The butcher is advised “don’t live and don’t die.” The reason for this is that his current occupation is hellish and his future life is also destined to be hellish.
