Where does allopathic medicine fit in as we rush to have our heads massaged, ears inserted with burning candles, skin pierced with acupuncture needles and magnets attached to painful parts of our bodies. Ayurvedic, homeopathic, herbal, iridological, holistic, natural, and tribal treatments are certainly in. So, do we take aspirin and penicillin anymore, or have operations on bones using anaesthetics? Should we just reject these standard remedies and mainstream treatments? According to Srila Prabhupada, who underwent allopathic surgery at least once, we should apply the principle of yukta vairagya, and accept what works.
