Several times Srila Prabhupada mentioned the Marquess of Zetland, a cultured Englishman, who he said was once the Governor of Bengal. He mentioned him in connection with the Marquess’s request to get the title of Brahmana. When one of Srila Prabhupada’s godbrothers informed the Marquess that this would mean giving up meat, illicit sex, gambling and intoxication, he said, “that’s impossible.” So he never became a Brahmana.
