We know how stormy oceans and big waves are often vicious killers. Evenso, Srila Prabhupada explained that oceans usually don’t rise beyond a certain level with their tidal vicissitudes because they are being controlled by the Lord. If the oceans and seas weren’t so regulated and obedient they’d swallow up the land. Srila Prabhupada used the ocean metaphor when he wanted to explain the serenity of something – or someone – extremely large and powerful.
