Dogs Barking

Once, Srila Prabhupada summed up the mysterious attraction kali-yuga denizens have for artificiality. He cited the example of a man impersonating a dog barking. He said that ordinarily people find this noise annoying, but they are happy to pay money to hear a man realistically imitating the sound. Another example comes to mind. “Still Life” works of art, such as paintings of flowers in vases, are admired and sometimes sell for huge prices at auctions, but most people wouldn’t think of paying to see the same flowers in real life.
