Eternal Transparency

There’s an organization based in Berlin called “Transparency International.” As you may guess, it measures, among other things, corruption in countries. The ten most corrupt countries (in order of the most corrupt first) are: Bangladesh, Nigeria, Paraguay, Madagascar, Angola, Kenya, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Uganda, and Moldovia. India and Russia come in at about number 30, with the UK, Germany and the US coming in the 80?s. It’s hard to agree 100% with all these figures, because I’m sure that corruption exists almost everywhere in some form or other, even in the “least” corrupt states. Maybe they’re even the MOST corrupt of all. Why am I saying this? Because Srila Prabhupada stressed that he was a TRANSPARENT MEDIUM. He was repeating a message that had gone before, speaking words from sastra, like those of the Bhagavat-gita, without making any changes. It was his mission, he told us, to connect us with the truth, and to be transparent. How different this is from the many personality cults that exist today!
