In public lectures, Srila Prabhupada mentioned that Krsna chose Arjuna (a family man with children, with more than one wife, a prince, a politician, a ksatriya, a fighter for a kingdom, not a scholar and not officially a yogi) to hear the Gita, because Arjuna was a devotee.
