Since the 1960s, the Krsna consciousness movement has gradually dwindled in public consciousness. Its newness is no longer a fact and its failure to be a "player in the field" when it comes to major issues of the day has resulted in it being "below the radar" of most people and institutions. In one way, this is a tragic state of a movement meant to change the world for the better; in another way it is a blessing, because ISKCON's troubles have not become known to the world.
